The CD was called Knoppix Linux and you can probably get the Sysadmins in 1140 Talmage to burn you a copy. If you have an ethernet connection or a supported modem, yes you can get online and you can ssh into the CS Dept Lab computers and use emacs or whatever you need. As for emacs on windows, I don't think it's hard to get running (back in my windows days I had it running once). Are you sure it wasn't a zip file you downloaded? You'll probably need a program like filzip (www.filzip.com) to open it. There's an emacs-like program called NotGNU (ignore the obviously imflammatory name) at http://www.notgnu.org/ that's for windows. Also for the obligatory religious zealotry, the world's best editor, VIm is available under windows (www.vim.org). Works spendidly. Of course that doesn't help you any. > thanks > Justin Bradley > [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Tired of spam?
