[35] More on Gary Nev

'Gary Neville could miss the remainder of the season because of injury and suspension.
He may be doubtful for England's games against Mexico and Greece. Neville has already
been ruled out of Manchester United's Premier League match against Middlesbrough on
Saturday after he twisted his knee in training.

He will also miss United's next games against Derby on Saturday week and Southampton
on May 13 after his two-match ban for using foul and abusive language towards a match
official was upheld at an appeal hearing. Neville did achieve a partial victory and
his £30,000 fine for the offence, which occurred at the end of United's 1-0 FA Cup
defeat against West Ham at Old Trafford on January 28, was reduced to £7,000.

He will be free to play in United's final match of the season at Tottenham on May 19,
but it remains to be seen if he will have recovered from his knee injury by then. If
the defender is still sidelined he could be doubtful for England's friendly against
Mexico at Pride Park on May 25 and, more importantly, the crucial World Cup qualifier
against Greece in Athens on June 6. Neville, who attended Wednesday's appeal hearing
at the Professional Footballers' Association's offices in Manchester on crutches, is
not sure how long he will be out.

He is having tests carried out on his knee and he could be out for at least three
weeks. Neville said: "I just twisted it in training on Monday and I think it's fair to
say I won't be playing on Saturday. I don't think we will find out how bad it is until
later on in the week."

And presumably because Real have such a strong influence over UEFA?

'Galatasaray have been banned from using their Ali Sami Yen stadium for European club
competitions. Uefa's control and disciplinary body have closed the ground due to a
"serious lack of overall security" during the Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
The stadium will remain out of use until it has been approved by Uefa administration.
Galatasaray, who were also fined 120,000 Swiss Francs (£49,000), have until midnight
on Saturday to lodge an appeal.'
