You were /probably/ told that because they can't guarantee that there weren't separate keys for each part. I don't have a 450 but at least two other listers have them; we'll wait and see if they chime in about how many different keys their Nighthawk takes.
As for getting the helmet lock off if you just want to replace it and get the replacement rekeyed: dremel? Grinding/cutoff wheel?
