The fluid is coming out of the center of the piston? It shouldn't be doing that. I seem to remember it had a divot for the clutch rod to fit in, but it shouldn't be a hole all the way through for fluid to escape. If you have a pinhole there that would explain the slow loss of your clutch, and yeah, the fluid would be going where it shouldn't be.
