Due to gearing the flat spot is less noticeable in higher gears. Does it do it
if the bike has been ridden for a while? Putting shims under the needles fixed
that for me with my 750. Google washer mod.

Subject: [Nighthawk Lovers] Acceleration or Throttle problem in lower gears

Hi! I am a new rider and have an '08 Nighthawk 250. This is my first bike,
and I'm having some trouble with it. From a cold start, I let the bike warm
up for a few minutes. Then, when I take off, after shifting into 2nd, when
I roll on the throttle there is like a dead zone where I get no
acceleration; if I roll on a little bit more, then the bike surges a bit.
3rd to 4th and 4th to 5th, I don't seem to have this problem. I assume I
should be getting constant, gradual acceleration throughout the throttle
position, yes? What can I do to fix this? I'm not very mechanically
inclined but I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!
