If you prick me, do I not bleed? Look, you ask for advice. You get advice. You come up with all kinds of reasons why said advice doesn't work for you. You are very unflexible when it comes to taking advice. Or you aren't able to understand the advice offered. Well, there's always a reason. With everything. And 9 times out of 10 it's behavioral. Meaning you could do something a different way. Even if they say that there is no budget, you could do a lot of work to calculate a budget based on certain assumptions. So, you've got a bunch of 10 year old equipment. How much did you spend reparing it last year. How much would new equipment for 1/3, 1/4 or 1/5 of it cost, and make a plan to replace stuff. It may cost more, but you might be suprised. In any event, it's obvious you haven't even made the effort. It is the lack of effor tthat is irksom to a great many on this list. Why not go the whole hog and run your email and internet browsing on a server too? If you were using a thin client or a drastically underpowered PC, then this would make sense, but not if you have a decent workstation. I agree that running lots of consoles creates a headache due to startup time and occasionally on a resource basis, so what we try to do is integrate as much stuff as possible into OpsManager, so we don't need to stare at a load of consoles. Then I can only open consoles as I need to work on them. But if your PC can't handle running seven or eight applications including a few management consoles, or if you worry because your machine uses lots of its memory (even though it is there to be used), then you have a few issues that need to be resolved.
