I'm finding the best solution is to go with a non Microsoft mail/web client 
(currently using Opera and its great) thus avoiding half of todays virisus 
(or virii?).  For any file I download, just right click on it and select 
"Scan with AVAST" before running it.  This way there isn't the overhead of 
bloody Norton running in the backround and slowing up my mail client.
