Allan I'm no expert either, but if this is the case M$ have made the sale of the century, A Java Killer with none of the advantages/disadvantages of Java. It not portable, it just is another 'spin' product that some corporate type IT managers will lap up because it is M$

Anyway, they don't need to put in a OS calling library. They are the only ones who make the .NET virtual machine, so if they don't release one for your OS then you can't use it.
