I also live in the Bay Area;I recently moved from SF to Vallejo to live
with my wife. We have A Plan. She is trying to find a job in a cheap part
of the country where two people can live tolerably on one income. Then I
dive into freelancing. We have several grand in savings to help cover the
slack. The idea is to see if I can earn even a trickle of money, enough to
help stay alive. If, after 1 or 2 years, I am earning el zippo, we shall
put the writing career on hold and I'll memorize some new buzzwords and go
back into programming.
Until that time, I'm doing what writing I can, when I can.
