Perl and PHP compile at run time, they aren't line at a time things like some BASICS were back at the start of micro-computer time.

And I'll not go into the fact that .Net is a library, not a language. You can write for .net in C++, C#, VisualBasic and J++ off the top of my head.

I've done my share of C# .net work.
