Seems fair enough I suppose. Does that mean that you are unwittingly
furthering
Mat and Paul's personal attacks against me because you happen to agree with
them?

I don't think so, but if you do, you may want to reign them in some. They
are
getting quite personal. >>

Actually, I felt like that was EXACTLY what was happening: somehow, a move
toward understanding was getting sidetracked. Of the hyper-open ideologues,
I felt you got my personal point very early, and were trying very early to
state your position while recognizing my concerns. That, I felt, was good
for the discussion.

Which was why I got completely lost on your little subthread, when it seemed
like you were acknowledging the many forms of contribution while still
standing by your preference for the One True Form of Contribution; and in
response, it seemed like folks were chastising you for not acknowledging
other forms of contributions. I was so confused! The major reason I haven't
gotten into the fray more there has been that I agree with all involved (to
one extent or another) and can't understand how it got so hot. "It's red!"
"No, it's scarlet!" "Red!" "Scarlet!" I was afraid I could only muddy the
waters.

I thought you were nicely presenting your viewpoint, striving carefully to
keep away from the personal, and recognizing the validity of other points of
view. Thank you for all of these.

Martin
