hi,

while i can't provide conclusive/final numbers we've seen update rates for
network transferred buffers from 5 to 15Hz, depending on the buffer size (we
currently transfer fullscreen buffers at 1280x1024 or 1280x1440 and do not
exceed 15Hz). since we are working with 16x pci-e gfx devices the actual
network transfer time for a given buffer is at least one order of magnitude
higher than the combined readpixels on the source host and the drawpixels on
the target host (everything connected to a gbit switch with dual-gbit per
end-to-end connection, eg. an 8 port switch with a 16gbit backplane). the
situation might relax if the buffer is broadcast to several hosts, since
(ideally) no duplicate transfers are needed.
as i said i can't provide any numbers right now, but if anyone is interested
please ask me a month from now :)

hth,

        j.
