I know this may be fundamental, but....Have you or the customer been able to
reproduce the problem while watching the PalmV in a controlled enviroment,
ie with the alarm set, unit off, sitting on a desk.
Reason I'm asking is I have not experienced this problem in a static
enviroment, however the newsgroups have been crawling with reports of your
symptom. Common problem seems to be the protective flap that covers the
screen is pressing on the scroll button, and when the alarm goes off you
will not hear the alarm, but rather soft clicks.
There is a hack for this to deactive the scroll button during an alarm at

The PalmIIIx and PalmV both use the same new DragonballEZ, however if you
are ref to the older III series than you are correct.
