Okay guys, This program has finally won.
I think it may be because I'm using window eyes, but I can't find the edit
field where I am supposed to put the components of the tag, and it also
won't let me select files.
I give in.
Thanks for all your help,
Dave.

Hi Dave and Raul,

Thanks Raul for resending that message listing the short cut keys. I had
forgotten I wrote that one. However, below is the actual message I sent to
one of my fellow ACBRI broadcasters ages ago in my days with ACB Radio
Interactive. I hope this helps you Dave.

HI,

Below is a message I posted to another list regarding the use of mp3 studio.
This message does not cover all of the features of this program but might be
helpful in some way in the use of it.

Hi,

Mp3 Studio has two modes for users to build their templates / tasks. An
advance mode and a simple mode. The advance mode allows the user to enter
in their templates / tasks manually via an edit field and text tokens such
as <artist> <title> etc, whilst the simple mode allows the user to build the
templates and other tasks via checkboxes which are very accessible.

I got a heap of MP3's from mates but they didn't tag them properly so I went
and hunted the track listings of the MP3 albums they gave me and used MP3
tag studio to tag them all.

For example, One of my mates tag his MP3's without the track numbers and the
file names he gave his MP3's were <artist> - <Title>.MP3. I wanted to have
the track number info in the MP3 tag for both v1 and v2! So I just got the
relevant track listing and just stuck the relevant track number in front of
each file and then told MP3 tag studio to tag the 13 MP3 files in this album
by using the file name template of <TrackNr> - <Artist> - <Title>.MP3. Of
course this is only a basic example but it saved me from having to open each
file and put the track numbers in. There is a section in MP3 tag studio
where you can put this sort of info in manually but again you have to arrow
through a list box to the file you want and tab to the track number field
and that can get tedious. I'd rather quickly stick the numbers in front of
each track in win explorer. Another example, one of my other mates had all
of the necessary MP3 tag info in his MP3's but he did not have the track
numbers showing on the actual file name of the MP3's. So I just used the
Rename file from mp3 tag information options of MP3 tag studio using the
same template of <TrackNr> - <Artist> - <Title>.MP3.

You can also tell MP3 tag studio to strip out those annoying underline
characters and fix the case of your files. Depending how you build your
templates, you can tell MP3 tag studio the exact info you want your MP3 tags
to have and you can do the same for the actual MP3 file name as well.

Also, MP3 tag Studio supports directory recursing which means you can apply
tasks to a whole drive or directory tree if you want to. It has a nice
little tool to make mp3 catalogues or mp3 lists as well.

If you end up using the program, there are a couple of things to note. If
you decide to use the advance mode of the template builder where you specify
the fields that get entered via an edit field and you are using JFW, you
have to use your Jaws cursor to find the field and left mouse click on it to
bring it into focus. This may not be necessary in Window Eyes though.
Also, in most dialogues, control+enter executes your task.
