(Hey, IT IS plugged into my 7300!!)
Question: My Charter Cable service cable modem has a ethernet jack AND a USB jack; which one is faster?
Ethernet, hands down. The USB is only there for miserable little pissant PC computers without ethernet.
Also, can I hook up TWO computers (one via USB and one via RJ-45) and both be connected to the broadband at the same time WITHOUT ME HAVING TO BUY A ROUTER?
I do not know, but probably not.
USB is very slow compared to 100baseTX ethernet. You can get a card for very little cash. check the LEM swap list. they come up very often!
Most cable modems do not allow you to use both connections at the same time. ive used a toshiba and a docsis. They both dont allow it. you can get a simple router at compusa for $30. I have their house brand and it works fine for all porpuses.
