(Hey, IT IS plugged into my 7300!!)

Question: My Charter Cable service cable modem has a ethernet jack AND a USB jack; which one is faster?

Ethernet, hands down. The USB is only there for miserable little pissant PC computers without ethernet.

Also, can I hook up TWO computers (one via USB and one via RJ-45) and both be connected to the broadband at the same time WITHOUT ME HAVING TO BUY A ROUTER?

I do not know, but probably not.

Yes you can but you do need to have two IP addresses available from your ISP which will be more expensive than a router. A router is a good idea anyway as it provides a firewall.
