Absolutely; I intend to give it a thorough going over.

This will only be my second foray into the world of used monitors. Does
anyone on the list buy a lot of used gear and have a "checklist" of things
they look at/perform on used monitors?

Two things to use to test:

Black text on a white background on all areas of the screen, particularly the corners. Look at the sharpness of the text.

4 color images. 1 each of all orange, purple and green. Is the color even across the whole screen? do they look like the colors that you took over? One image that you are very familiar with, preferably including a person. Are the colors sharp and true?

Do the colors vary from when you started the test to the end? Bad sign.

Meanwhile, I'll see what I can turn up online.

But when I am in the cadd program with a white background, the burned in win
2000 login screen is obvious.

Yeah, I remember that thread. Did the suggested "crank up the brightness
for a more, um, uniform burn-in" help any?

Not in the least.
