If I remember correctly, you can upgrade the cdrom
drive to a later model - I don't know whether this
will solve the OS X issue but it'll solve other
problems.I had a 5400 that was not reading burned cd's
and somebody on the list suggested swapping in a newer
model. He explained the reasons why but it escapes
right now - but it worked.
