Richard: I posted the exact same problem a week or so ago. I am still working the problem with no solution so far. I have disabled the on board sound, installed two differentsound cards, increased the memory to 256 meg. reinstalled the sound card drivers... My scratchy intermittant sounds occure more often as time goes by and show up playing from HD, CD or DVD drive with Windows Media player or "Music Match" on line. Reboot always eliminates the problem but it comes back in the same manner over time.
I am starting to think that it has something to do with my network (multi PC) but do not really know. Here in my system info: Maybe some knowledegable person will respond.
