Ralph, I don't think you ever reformatted when you changed hardware, right? IF that's the case, that is probably your problem. Or else if you haven't, do all those other things I suggested yesterday (about the IRQ's and turning off ACPI). If after trying ALL of them you still have the problem, reformat (if you haven't). Install EVERYTHING, get ME setup the way you want it, all patches, software, drivers, etc, EXCEPT for the sound drivers. Make sure during this you have anything and everything in the BIOS regarding sound disabled. Set ME's restore, then install the sound card drivers. Then work the hell out of the audio, TRY and get it to screw up. Since ME will delete the restore after a while, you may want to try and copy the restore folder somewhere, until the problem happens again (if it does) then move that restore folder where the current restore folder is. (Has anyone ever tried that before, so you can go back to a restore point several days prior?)
Then if it happens, uninstall the sound card, remove it from the device manager, do the 'restore' function, shut the PC down, remove the PCI sound card, start the PC and enable all the integrated sound functions and try it. If it STILL does this, then you obviously have a compatibility problem with that chipset (or other hardware) and Music Match. You may want to do some searches and research to find out what issues Music Match has with that VIA chipset. If you find any, then that answers your question. Is there something else you can try instead of Music Match? You should also give another version of the WMP a try. If you're using 7, try 6.4 (I have it). If you're using 6.4, try 7.x, etc. (You can always bring the PC by here sometime and let me take a look at it). -Clint God Bless Us All Clint Hamilton, Owner Want to exchange links with us? http://OrpheusComputing.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Ralph" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Clint and Rocky Rocky...........How are you doing with your sounds ?? I feel like I took over your thread.. feel free to jump in.!! Well the sound problem is not gone yet, I t just took longer for the distortion to show up.So....I un installed the Sc4000 Pci card and installed the on-board sound feature again including the EPOX 4 in 1 package. The distortion is even worse and the volume is so low I have to run the levels at MAX. And I get sound cross talk from various system activity like moving the mouse and IE-6 checking for mail. As you can see from the ME sys info, the as4000 shows up like the Via. did when the SC4000 was installed. But now the VIA on board has IRQ 4. Maybe I need to try a high end sound card that is for Win. ME ?? Rocky...........How are you doing with your sounds ?? Thanks Ralph Sys Info Multimedia sound device.
