I'll check the manual again, but, as far as I know, I just have to plug
the camera into the usb and the parallel ports to dl the pics, the puter does
the rest. And why I have to use both cables is beyond me, but I've tried it
numerous times with just one or the other and it won't work.
The message I keep getting now is that my camera has to be plugged into
the puter. It is....long before I even try to dl the pictures!! Why can't the
puter pick up on this?
I don't use the software that came with my camera in order to transfer pix from the camera to the computer. If I plug into the USB port, the camera shows up as a separate drive in WinExplorer. (Mine shows as F:) You may have to refresh the view in WinExplorer in order to see it. Of course, the camera needs to be turned on and set to the correct setting for transfer.
I simply move all of the pix to a tempphoto folder and then preview that folder with PaintShop Pro. I delete unwanted photos from there and move the ones I want to keep into their appropriate folders (of which I've created many). I keep the tempphoto folder empty.
I can delete the pix on the camera from WinExplorer also, but if I do this, I will get a BSOD, warning that I'm deleting from an open folder. This has never hung up the computer, but I don't do it because I don't like seeing that BSOD!. So, I unplug the camera from the computer and use the camera's delete function.
All of this takes seconds, rather than opening camera software and fiddling around with all of it's viewers and screens.
I've never tried moving pix from the computer to the camera. I suppose in theory there would be no reason one couldn't? I don't know why you must use 2 cables in order to transfer your photos.
