It's not that the "Mass Storage Device" isn't found or that any hard drive put into it, isn't found. In both cases the computer finding them is not a problem 'cos like I said, "Computer Management" says they are there and shows they are there and even gives the drive a letter. It's simply that even though a drive letter is allocated, that drive letter does not appear in "Windows Explorer".
Has that shed anymore light on the peculiar problem.
A point in passing......I have tried connecting this device both through an unpowered 4 port hub and also directly into a USB port at the back of the Toshiba with the same end result!! Harold
