This is slightly off-topic, but related to the initial question. Beginning in 1988, I fell in love with the Mac. So I could claim competency on both platforms, in the mid-90s I bought a Windows system. I beta-tested OS X, and hated the problems with the double OS. I pulled it, but gave each new version a try with the same lousy success. Years later, OS X is finally stable, but given a choice I would rather work on OS 9.2.2. Unfortunately, with the new G4s, you have to use OS X. My love affair with the Mac has cooled as I found a new flame: Windows XP, which will do everything I need in design and business. One thing I have learned, however, is not to put down someone else's choices, because the freedom of choice is what makes this country great. And, yes, in addition to my sleek Mac, I also have a Dell. IMHO, the Classic/OS X combo, was and is a bad combination. They are very sensitive about any comments about their machines. It was a throw away line meant as a joke as I know how many of YOU are out there. And you know who YOU are. No real offense intended, just a little shot in the ribs. I've been lucky and haven't needed to reboot my machine for anything other than an update, upgrade, or software install since I got the thing 1 1/2 years ago. I leave it on 24/7. Dude, I got a Dell. ~James Opinions expressed are mined. Watch where you step. __________________________________________________________________ Sorry James, but I can tell you for sure it's not due to Keith using a Mac, but I would agree that there are a few possibilities. I have placed hundreds of ads, as pdfs, in Quark 4.11 using OS 9.2 and I have never had the Mac freeze up when placing the ad. It does on occasion take a little time to import, say 15-30 seconds for large pdfs. A better guess would be that the pdf itself has issues, especially since it is an intermittent problem. I make all the pdfs that I place and therefore control how they are made, if Keith places a pdf provided by someone else, who knows how well it was made(pdf writer?, word?, etc).
