I am not at all clear on the reasons for putting anything over the LCD. Yeah, I know, it is for protection, but what is the point?
I've damaged the protective film more than once. But it did its job and protected the actual LCD cover.
Replacing scuffed up protective film is easier and cheaper than getting the actual LCD cover replaced.
