Thanks for the tips.  I have been scanning quite a bit with mine
(using VueScan), and still find that the scans just don't have the
sharpness that my Minolta Scan Dual II film scanner has.  Everything
is just a little soft.  I am finding that some slides (unmounted) do
have some focus problems, but the majority of my negatives are ok. But
nothing is as sharp as I would expect.

I am considering returning the unit due to the mediocre performance
that I am getting.  Unless I am doing something drastically wrong, it
just isn't going to satisfy me.
