That's pretty much my take on it. With the shots of the next bird that I haven't shown yet, and to a lesser extent this heron, I was intentionally taking a lot because of AF limitations. I know this camera/lens combo is a bit hit-and-miss as DOF is very limited and the sensor isn't selective enough to lock onto the eye every time (neither's my aim when the subject is moving). With the heron walking about I had plenty of different lighting angles, poses and background arrangements to play with as well. Most of the time I only take one or two photos of any given subject. It's a habit I've carried over from the film days. It makes editing a lot easier!
