my my ..
such vitriol from one who uses a Mac.

I've used both.. Macs and PC's.. they each have their strong points and
they each have their downfalls.

In a networked environment; ideally; the PC is still where it's going to
be. Sad is it might be, most businesses are not graphic design houses,
print shops or music studios.

I currently work for a large insurance company in Canada. We have Macs.
They're in our print shop. They co-exist and live happily beside our PCs
(Compaq - unfortunately). I don't think there is an Insurance company in
Canada (or elsewhere that I know of) that runs ONLY Macs. You could say the
same about any large corporation. You could also say the same about the PC
in that in every corporation (multi national) there must be SOME Macs in
there.

At home, I have 2 pcs. I've never had severe difficulty in upgrading my
systems - hardware or software. I'm not an expert. I'm not even an "MCSE"
(big deal really...) but I do have patience and a desire to learn and
willingness to experiment knowing that I can inevitably fix the problem.
Would I ever use a Mac ? Sure I would, but for the money I could upgrade my
hardware. I considered a powerbook because in the realm of "the laptop"..
I don't bother with trying to "make my frankenstein" like I do with PC's.

That's part of the "problem" if you will with Macs. I can't BUILD my own
Mac. I have to order a Mac.. pre built.. pre made.. etc. Also one of the
reasons why I don't order from Dell/Gateway/etc. Ever take a LOOK at the
Dell manual that comes with their PC's ? It clearly states "Dell uses new
or nearly new equipment in all their personal computers" or something to
that affect. NEARLY new.. (i.e. could be refurbished, could have been
sitting around a warehouse collecting dust, etc.)

So.. until they let me build my own Mac.. I'll be happy with my PCs.. even
with all the monster cords etc. :-) At work, I use what my company says to
use because it's THEIR equipment. At home, I can do what I want...and maybe
one day.. I will have that Powerbook..

Cheers,
Dave

Subject: RE: OT: Windoze 2000 features

It has been my experience that trying to upgrade any form of Windoze to any
other on any kind of PC is an absolute nightmare. Windoze is designed for
specific chipsets, and works best with these. Period. End of story. Yeah,
you could get a pentium 1 at 75mhz to run windoze nt, but it would be so
much trouble, and in the final analysis the system would run so poorly that
why would you want to?

It was five years of torture at the hands of Bill Gates that made me buy a
Mac. Contrary to popular opinion, or what some computer geeks will tell you,
Macs are just plain better for everything. The only piece of software that
is unreliable on my dual processor G4 450 with 1.5 gigs of ram is Microshit
Internet Exploder! It crashes more often, and causes more problems, than
having 2 gigs of photos open in photoshop, 5 - 11x17 layouts printing from
Quark, scanning, printing and burning a 16x firewire backup Cd
simulataneously (yes, I have done all of this simultaneously on my Mac, with
no problems or glitches). Yet as soon as I open internet exploder,
CCCRRRAAASSSHHH!!!

That's why they are called a PC; a piece of crap. I will never buy another
one of those stupid, tacky, advertisment-filled unreliable pieces of crap as
long as I live.

If you want some great photoshop and graphic tips and advice, check out the
Apple.com websight and click on 'creative'. There's tips and tricks,
masterclasses, interviews, and all kinds of useful and informative stuff.
And it changes every couple of weeks.

Go to the microshit website and all you will get is advertising for
microcrap (if the site doesn't lock up on you).

Get a mac. They are just plain better machines. For everything. Period.
