Actually, no. The terminology is very germaine to the
discussion. "Pro" means the type of equipment that is desirable
to a working pro.
Pentax as a brand has always been an enthusiast/ hobbiest brand,
at least here in North America, since the Korean War.
Here in North America, Nikon ruled as the pro brand name of
choice right up until Canon introduced the EOS-1. Canon was
regarded as the "National Geographic brand", which certainly was
not a bad thing, the cachet value of that made a lot of sales
for the F1, but Canon never had the pro market penetration that
Nikon had, and Pentax was not even on the radar screen.

Because Contax has the cachet value of Carl Zeiss behind it.
Carl Zeiss and Contax are real brand names, with pro
reputations. Don't foreget, Hasselblad also has the Carl Zeiss
name on their lenses. No matter how good a Pentax is, it is
still hung with a second class reputation.
This sort of stuff is actually important to pro photographers,
who depend on impressing clients as much with their pictures as
with the brand they bring to the shoot.
No matter how good the job, if the client thinks it would have
been better if the photographer had used a Nikon, then the
client will go to a photographer who uses a Nikon next time.
