In my mind any consumer unit will do; you don't need WRT or any Linux
firmware. All you need to do is set the LAN address to something on your
LAN (so you can get into it later) and turn off DHCP.  Then plug your
ethernet into any of the 4 LAN ports and it becomes a simple bridge.  I
have maybe half a dozen APs that I use this way.
