Just for what it's worth, Squeezer also can activate the media controls on a Wear OS watch. Leaving it on will have some impact on the battery, but I don't know if it would qualify as draining the battery. Usually running latest beta LMS nightly on Raspberry Pi OS with virtual players (Squeezelite and Airplay bridge).
