May I just suggest an alternative which has in the past been discounted. It may now be time to lobby again to have AAC/AAC+ included as native codecs in the Squeezebox.
I do believe that despite all the discussion on the BBC forums the AAC+ streams are of a superior audio quality than the WMA streams and the amount of BBC items in these forums could add some weight to resurrecting the argument for this codec.
