In terms of stations using AAC+ - the number is not really increasing and some new station use and then some other stations have dropped it. This may change if US ISP do more volume charging.
Regarding codecs I was highlighting the fact that any change will probably be negative for some users. In terms of native stream support I suspect the OGG codec would be least used and would be the candidate for eviction but as soon as you float the idea of dropping "OGG" - there will be a reaction. The BBC improving streams for international users will probably only be marginal and as a side effect of changes for UK users. However, BBC have also mentioned in the blogs that they were examining how UK-license holders but who were not in the UK could access the better quality audio streams and iPlayer video. BBC MP3 streams are also used by all mobiles and not just iPhones. What is the support of AAC+ like in other mobiles ? Also many Wifi radio use the Reciva chips but currently they only support AAC and not AAC+ so it is possible users may actually perceive a loss in quality compared to MP3 due to lower bit rate and lack of support of AAC+ "quality" additions. -- bpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=53229 _______________________________________________ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
