Which ISP are you with?  I suspect it may have nothing to do with your
home network at all, but is possibly something to do with your internet
supplier blocking or "shaping" the feeds.  I have read reports of some
ISPs struggling with the bandwidth used by iPlayer and reducing its
priority on their systems.  I have, very occasionally, had problems at
peak times with iPlayer on both Be* before I migrated and O2 since. 
The symptoms are rebuffering or the feed just stopping and going back
to the beginning of the program.  I have not had the problem for a
couple of weeks now though, and generally I find it reliable for
play-it-again feeds.

However, like you, I can no longer hear any of the live feeds.  But as
I have both DAB and FM I use those for live radio.
