I thought it would have something to do with their bandwidth shaping, it is known to cause lots of problems. As you say, their tech support is fantastic (it needs to be!). But if they did not "bandwidth shape" the traffic in the first place they would not have had a problem that needed solving. AFAIK they are the only ISP to do this as extensively as they do. However, to give them credit, they do it openly - unlike Tiscali and TalkTalk who do it covertly. I always had that feeling about Plusnet. The tech guys are amazing, many came over from Metronet when they took it over. Metronet had a similar reputation for technical expertise and service. However, Plusnet introduced this hardware solution to the costs and restrictions of delivering a decent, value-for-money service through BT Wholesale. A noble aim, but it has never quite worked as advertised. They use extremely expensive hardware to squeeze as many internet connections as possible through a limited "pipe" by slowing down some services to allow others through unhindered. That way they could offer a cheap connection and deter the P2P and Usenet boys. But despite never using more than 2GB a month, I had nothing but problems with it, so swiftly left Metronet/Plusnet and went with paying a bit extra and getting a clean connection at Newnet who make a strong point that they do not shape or prioritise their service at all. As a result I never had to test their tech support. It always just worked. The only reason I went to Be* and thence to O2 was because LLU is much better value for money (blame BT). Otherwise I would have stuck with Newnet. -- TheLastMan Matt SB Duet (Controller + two receivers) Synology Diskstation 107+ with FW 2.0-0600 SqueezeCenter 7.3.1 on Synology Package Manager Naim 42/110 amp, B&W CM2 speakers in living room.
