The SlimDevices developers are all of partying at Mountain View it seems. Anyway, how's this for service? Two Plusnet support staff replied to my question in their support forum. One remotely installed SqueezeCentre, SqueezePlay and the iPlayer plugin on his home Mac. Within an hour he had found the problem, due it seems (as I understand it) to their Ellacoya bandwidth shaping hardware not recognising the Squeezebox "signature" and so prioritising the traffic incorrectly. They are currently working on a fix that they hope to roll out to their live system in the next couple of days.
Assuming that they are as good as their word I am left stunned by the amazing service of this UK ISP. I've not seen anything like it. Ever. BTW. Increasing the Radio Station Buffer Seconds up to 30 made no difference at all (if anything it made the problem worse).
