In NJ, the cities determine the tax burden ... his house was about $300K
when he sold it ... my house's taxes are based on the last time they
assessed the property, so for the $68K structure, based on the twisted
formula they use ... building and land are different (current price for my
house would be about $250K, I pay $8K per year ... the concept is that we
are paying 75% for the schools, but the money goes to the state and is then
spent how THEY determine it should be spent ... so, in effect my taxes pay
for the charter schools that get 3 or 4 times what my local kids get!!! I
never had kids, but I always thought that since we use property taxes to
pay for schools, it should be directly spent where I live!!!
