Wow, that's horrible. A $250K home here would pay about $2K/year in 
property taxes. And yeah, it goes to the state and then to schools - 
including all the FAILING public ones. I have paid property taxes here for 
decades and only had kids in public schools for a few years. Then I moved 
them to a private school and spent $250K on tuition. That's messed up. 
Money should follow the CHILD. I should be able to spend my money where MY 
kids go to school - not where other people's kids go to school PLUS where 
mine go to school.
