Tom, Two points. First, as Mark brought up, these are benefits, not rights. Some of what you raise, like survivor and estate tax benefits are available to anyone, not just married couples.
Again, I remind you, that you and your militant Gay friends are asking for more rights, that is to say, "Additional Rights And Privilgess" than the rest of working Americans. As it is today, you have the "Right" to marry anyone that you so choose, just as I do, and every other American does. What you are asking for, is to redefine the term, "Marriage", which is unacceptable.
