"I guess it would be safe to check on both" he said turning to go back into the house.   Philip paused and looked at him thoughtfully as Nick answered,  wondering if Nick had thought of checking on Julia and or Kat first or the sephlicurs -- and half tempted to tease him that he'd hoped it would have been Julia, but not really sure it was appropriate.   So he just pointed for Nick to lead the way to the door and followed.
