Kat thought this over that might be all right and she was curious about what
Julia wanted her help with. "Okay," she said crawling into bed. "Let's
make bacon for breakfast and cupcakes," she added with a grin. She put
Tuffy close beside her and hugged both Nick and Julia tightly. "Don't
forget to leave the door open," she added.
After Julia and Nick left Kat stared at the ceiling for what seemed like
hours. She kept checking the clock on her bedside table. Finally, when an
hour had passed by she jumped out of bed, running just in case the monsters
decided to crawl out and get her, all the way to Nick's room. She knocked
lightly on the door and then entered the room and hurried to the bed,
crawling in between them. "Tuffy couldn't sleep and he doesn't like to be
places without me," she explained. This felt better, safter, maybe things
would be okay.
