By the time he got downstairs, the others had left, with Philip eating away
at breakfast.
It smelled good too, Derek thought as he entered, rubbing his face, and then
serving himself up some of it, spotting Julia's note by the toaster.
He grinned and picked it up. That had always been her habit when she went
somewhere.. leave a note with a magnet to hold it, to the toaster. He never
did ask why but it was good to see it again.
He went over and served himself up a cup of coffee and absently made one for
Alex as well, setting it as per usual on the counter where she always passed
by, then went to go get the note Julia had instructed them to all read.
Seconds later he was chuckling.
"What's so amusing at this hour," Alex asked from behind him. She was glad
to see him up and about and despite not getting a full nights sleep she was
in a pretty good mood.
