I have one here I got some time ago. When I plugged it in first I was
getting terrible offsets and didn't have time to get back to it for a
while. I just plugged it back into one of the Soekris boxes on my desk
this afternoon and it's working great.
Btw, for the discussion of asymmetric connections; for what it's worth
on both my GPS driven systems at home I see (consistently) about a 2ms
offset to "internet servers". Systems on the internet on the other
hand consistently see them off by 1-2ms (but the other direction).
The connection is DSL one direction and cable the other direction (don't
ask).

Be sure to update the GPS 18x LVC firmware to 3.70, for reasons explained
here:
http://www.satsignal.eu/ntp/Garmin-GSP18x-LVC-firmware-issue.htm
On the GPS//PPS systems here, Internet servers have reported offsets of
between 3 and 12 milliseconds, 3 ms for a server which is physically local
(Edinburgh) and 16 hops away, 12 ms for one in Manchester and 17 hops
away. That's on a Virgin Media cable modem connection with 30 Mb/s down
and 1 Mb/s up.
Cheers,
David
