This is true enough. I guess what I was getting at wasn't so much an
"alt" vs "standard" country comparison, as just how surprised I myself was
when I found Vince's show much more compelling. Even afterward, as I
was thinking about it, I was thinking that--with my particular tastes--I
would have preferrd Dale or The Derailers to either one. But honestly;
before the evening began, I supposed I would enjoy the ACL with 97s /
Wtown more than the Gill broadcast. It turned out quite the opposite,
even though Gill did get farther into schmaltzville than I could handle on
several occasions.
