In this case, yes, that's a helpful reference to point folks at. Generally, I don't accept/agree in the slightest that _because_ Google (or Facebook, Microsoft, Apple, etc etc) 'does it' it's necessarily correct, good, or even close to implying a 'standard'. At best, it makes it 'currently used a lot' ... For mail/security, I place _much_ more weight on what's done in/by Postfix & Openssl projects.
