Hi Cameron
Interesting to note this:

I added an internal Ethernet card in a friend's 1400 - and it was extremely
fiddly to do. I was also supposed to be adding an 8mb ram chip.
In the process of miraculously finding a way to fit the ethernet card in,
then discovering that the blanking metal plate had to go €inside€ and not
outside so I had to undo it all and miraculously redo it again - I got it
all back together - (including finding that I'd pulled the keyboard cable
out of it's plug!) - AND it all worked. (Glow of amazed achievement at
patience paying off!).
Anyway that was the short version but the twist in the tale is that in my
concentration on the blimmin card I had somehow ended up putting the 4mb ram
back in instead of the new 8 mb! Oh fool ;-)
So I wasnąt in a hurry to remove and redo the whole thing as - really - it
was very tricky. Having read your mail above I now wonder if I would be
better off leaving it as it is (60mb).
Does anyone else have any similar doubts about having the 8mb ram rather
than the 4mb in a 1400 - or is it that Cameron has a dodgy 8mb stick of ram?

I am also wondering if this ethernet card is likely to prevent using a G3
upgrade at a later date? (Cant remember offhand the make but was one of the
main brands)

All the best
Brian
