Have you started it with "extensions" off? Also, the 3400 does get hot on
bottom. Make sure the feet in back are out so that some air circulates
around the computer.

Yes, I did try that, with no success. And the little feet were extended.

Trying booting with extensions off as Dan in AZ suggests is a good idea.
Otherwise, try booting from something external,
A CD or PCMCIA drive.
I revived a Wallstreet with a HD so clogged up and fragmented that it couldn't get very far into a boot. Finally, managed to erase and reformat, then presto a working machine.

I want to boot from a OS 8.5 CD or a PC Card that has OS 8.6. However, the PowerNook doesn't boot anymore.
I kept it plugged in 24 hours, but now it doesn't even make a noise. Could it be a bad power supply board? Something in the logic board? Should I take the Hard Drive out and rescue the files/ (The PB belongs to a Doctor who kept his patients files there.)
Worst thing is, now it doesn't make a sound, doesn't boot, nothing...
Now what?
