THE WEEKEND PRIMETIME NEWSLETTER
AMERICA'S NEWSCHANNEL MSNBC
Saturday October 12, 2002- Sunday October 13, 2002
As of this writing police in Virginia are stopping white vans, searching for a
killer who shot a man to death at a gas station in Fredericksburg. If he is linked to
the spree killings that have terrified people in the Washington, DC suburbs over the
past week this would be the eight victim. On SATURDAY, we'll devote our primetime
programs to cases like this, that have been horrifying or mysterious, or both.
Then on SUNDAY, at 8PM ET we premiere NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER: NUCLEAR
TERRORISM: BLINDING HORIZONS. Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda terrorist organization
have been trying to obtain nuclear weapons for almost a decade. Now, special
correspondent Peter Bergen, author of the New York Times best-seller Holy War, Inc.
goes back to Kabul to look at how real the threat is. Can bin Laden threaten not only
the United States, but the whole world with nuclear terrorism?
And we have some "lighter fare" for those of you looking in that direction.
Check out our premiere of NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC EXPLORER: BEAR BANDITS on SUNDAY at 6pm
ET.
Hope your weekend is a safe and happy one.

identity? We'll show you how this mystery ultimately is solved and how an American
president gets involved.

MSNBC INVESTIGATES: DEADLY BEHAVIOR
What is it that makes some people -so- evil? Childhood abuse? Chemical imbalance?
Genetics? The fact is, experts just don't know, making the job of criminal profilers
so difficult, and so necessary. It's these men and women who are charged with taking
physical evidence and developing a psychological profile of an unknown killer. In
this program, we'll see these profilers in action as we go deep inside a serial
killing case that has gone unsolved for decades.
