Interesting, thank you.  Yep, maybe you're right.  Or
I could just stick with tiff files.  I'll have to
investigate the cost.  It may have to wait till I
recieve a pay check over the summer.

I didn't understand all of that, bit too technical for
me (mappings and things).  I'm on PC, windows Me. 
Despite having followed David's earlier advice the
problem continues.  I'd be interested to solve this
problem.  You reckon it's not a bug?

If I 'configure' the system to ignore drive a, would i
still be able to read files from floppies?  Would it
be a case of 'reactivating' drive a when I needed it?
(I have no idea what 'configure' means in practical
terms) :-)
