tried that, but it didn't work. The OSX mac can't see other macs on the network although it can see all the windows pcs. which is a bit of a pain as we all used to use appletalk to copy files between machines. I now have to do a two stage copy to and from a OSX server.
If I remember correctly, you are running Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther). One of the most annoying "features" about Panther is its lack of being able to "Browse" the Appletalk network. I think that this might be a security "feature".
However, you can "hard-code" the Appletalk address and open up a Appletalk server on your network including OS 9. I do it all the time here at work. What you do is:
1. In the Finder, go up to the "Go" menu and select "Connect to
Server...". This brings up a very plain looking dialog.2. In the "Server Address" text field, type the following:
afp://Server/
Where the word "Server" is replaced with either enter the Name
of the server or TCP/IP address.3. Once you type this in, you can click the "+" button to the
right of this field to add it to the list of "Favorite Servers"
below. This will at least give you access to the iMac computer, but does not allow you to print directly to your USB Shared Printer.
