What if God made it His business to create a soul upon human conception, or to put it another way, past the age of conception? This is what the "pro-choice"/ abortion/ euthanasia crowd does, assume to meddle in God's business.
Hi Kris! Don't giggle too hard, I am quite serious. I contend that the argument that abortion is a sin is just as valid as the argument that it is a "right". As far as law is concerned, I have advocated a compromise. The age of reason is about 7, actually. Does a 6 year old have a soul? I think that the aborted babies, deliberately killed or naturally aborted, go to heaven. It is the aborters who go to hell. Maybe hell on earth, maybe hell for all eternity - but hell. Regards, Pete
I don't buy it because it doesn't pass the "giggle" test. Faith and reason are not in conflict, and reason would indicate that the point of conception is not a good time for the soul to enter the body. Nature herself sheds fertilized eggs down the drain all the time. Spontaneous abortion (miscarriage) occurs with great frequency in the first trimester. It simply makes no sense that a God who is a whole lot smarter than I am would put a soul in a fertilized egg. I just don't buy it. I believe there is an age of reason for a human being, and that it does not occur even in infancy. But the Supreme Court was willing to state that the first trimester was a logical cutoff, and most people can live with that except in cases of extreme duress to the mother.
